Kristin Voegtline, Ph.D. - Principal Investigator

Dr. Voegtline leads the Hopkins Early Neurodevelopment Lab. Dr. Voegtline is a developmental scientist who studies the psychophysiology of pregnancy and fetal antecedents of infant and child health and development. She is particularly interested in fetal adaptation to signals of the intrauterine environment, such as the maternal endocrine milieu or the maternal immune system. Additionally, Dr. Voegtline is interested in sex differences in adaption to intrauterine signals.
Dr. Voegtline is the Principal Investigator of a NICHD K99/R00 study examining how sex steroid exposure in the fetal and neonatal periods impact infant neurodevelopment. Additional funding from the Foundation for Gender Specific Medicine and Johns Hopkins Center for Women’s Health, Sex, and Gender Research supported exploration of sex differences in DNA methylation of umbilical cord blood related to sex steroid exposure.
Dr. Voegtline is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics. Employing her strong quantitative background in statistical methodology and substantive interest in the prenatal period, she also serves as the BEAD Core Lead Faculty Analyst for the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department. Prior to joining the faculty in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Dr. Voegtline spent six years in the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She received her doctorate and master's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the Pennsylvania State University.

Christina Huynh
Christina is a senior majoring in Public Health. Her research interests include women's, maternal, and newborn health. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis for the Hopkins Tennis team, watching movies, and exploring Baltimore!
Stacey Tang
Stacey is a junior studying Public Health and Behavioral Biology. She has experience in pediatric rural hospital safety research and medical assistant work. Her personal research interests include child development and behavioral health.
Mimi Mensah
Mimi is a senior double majoring in Public Health Studies and Spanish. Her research interests include differences in infant behavior and environmental pathology in the context of early childhood development.
Christiana Liu
Christiana is a senior studying Cognitive Science and Public Health. She has worked on both child health and language cognition research. Her personal research interests include biostatistics and early child development.
Aalia Crouch
Aalia is a junior double majoring in Neuroscience and Public Health Studies. She currently researches neural attention in mice, and her personal research interests include premature brain development and health equity.

Sylvie Lauzon, RN, MSPH
Sylvie graduated from Colgate University with a degree in Women’s Studies and Sociology in 2016 where she discovered her passion for reproductive health and social justice. Wanting to make macro-level changes within reproductive health, Sylvie decided to pursue a MSPH degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health where she joined the HEN Lab. Her passion for early childhood experiences and fetal development persisted as she worked as a case manager with children 0-5 in her home state of California. Currently, she is pursuing a MSN at the University of California San Francisco to become a Certified Nurse Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. In addition to her research with the HEN Lab, she is currently working with researchers at UCSF to improve breastfeeding education and certify UCSF as a Baby Friendly Hospital. Sylvie’s current research interests include reproductive justice, fetal development, and birth outcomes.
Anna Fiedor
Anna has been working with the HEN Lab since her freshman year at Johns Hopkins University in 2017. After finishing undergrad, she decided to continue her Hopkins education at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Currently, she is a 1st year MSPH candidate in the Department of Population, Family, and Reproductive Health with a focus in child health. Anna's research and professional interests include health communications, breastfeeding, trauma, child development, and maternal mental health. In her free time, Anna loves talking walks around the harbor and spending time with friends.
Supriya Dhaurali, MSH
Supriya is a current medical student at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She graduated with her B.S. in Biological Sciences from University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2016 with a minor in Psychology and completed her Masters in Health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in 2019. Her academic interests include fetal development in utero and the impact of early environmental exposures on neurodevelopment and behavioral outcomes. In her free time, Supriya enjoys spending time with her family, trying new recipes, and exploring the outdoors.
